Castletown commissioners have applied for planning permission for a handrail outside a pub in the ancient capital.
The black rail would run alongside the Union Hotel on Market Square.
In its application, the local authority says it would run the length of the building, with gaps left for the pub doors.
And it says it would be spaced away from the wall to avoid floor-mounted lights.
