Around 2,000 people are currently on the waiting list for initial Ear, Nose and Throat outpatient appointments.
Health Minister Claire Christian gave the figures in Tynwald this week in response to a question from Onchan MHK Julie Edge.
Ms Christian said the prioritisation of cancer and urgent cases meant other patients have increased.
She went on to give more details about waiting times for the specialist department:
