Government support for low-income families over Christmas is expected to be announced in Tynwald this week.
It's thought a food voucher scheme will be introduced during the festive break to support those "affected by the increased cost of living" on the Isle of Man due to rising fuel prices and inflation.
The issue was raised in the House of Keys last week by MHK Daphne Cain.
Chief Minister, Alfred Cannan said he expected to be able to announce a support system in the coming days.
If approved, the scheme will offer food vouchers to families whose children normally get free school meals.
The vouchers can be exchanged for groceries at approved shops on the island.
