The airport fire service is applying for permission to build a replacement training cabin.
It would be identical to the old portacabin, which was built in 2000 and has now been demolished because of its condition.
The new facility would also be on the exact same site, between the fire station and flight training school.
The applicant says it believes the cabin would be classed as an airport building and therefore exempt from the normal planning process.
