Acting attorney general appointed

John Quinn has been appointed as the acting attorney general for the next 12 months.

Mr Quinn takes over the role while the suspended Stephen Harding faces six charges, including three counts of forgery.

The long-serving advocate will act as legal adviser to the Governor, Council of Ministers and government.

He will also be responsible for representing the Crown in the prosecution of offences and for the drafting of Government legislation.

Mr Quinn is a past president of the Island’s Law Society and has managed and developed several legal practices during his career.

He will formally take up the appointment in March.
