Ramsey MHK Alex Allinson says changing the Island's abortion law will end discrimination against poorer women.
In the House of Keys yesterday he was given permission to introduce a Private Member's Bill with a view to updating the Island's 53-year-old laws.
It wasn't all plain sailing however as Douglas East MHK Chris Robertshaw asked for the proposals to be discussed by a select committee - MHKs voted against his amendment.
During the debate Dr Allinson said the current law has led to a two-tier system:
Vegan beauty salon up for sale
Committee says more housing needed for young people
Half of broken defibs now working
Cider microbrewery planned for Ballasalla
Covid wrongful arrest and torture claims thrown out by court
