An 87 year old woman told police she didn’t notice running into a parked van, causing £120 of damage to it.
Patricia McRae Freeman of Ormly Road in Ramsey admitted having no car tax, driving without due care and attention, and failing to stop after or report an accident when she appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
The court heard just before 11.30am on February 21, she hit a Post Office van on Bowring Road in Ramsey but drove off in her Ford Fiesta - a witness reported the incident to police who went to her home.
She told officers she didn’t remember hitting it - and asked them if they didn’t have anything better to do than question her.
Magistrates fined her a total of £700 and put five penalty points on her licence as well as ordering her to pay £50 costs and £120 compensation.
