Sometime between the end of January of the 14th of February thieves have made away with over 70 metres of copper cable from the MER tramlines in Lonan.
The wire was taken from the area of the Everlasting Bend near to Bulgham.
It is believed that a vehicle has been driven onto the tramlines and that the offender has then stood on the roof of the vehicle to access the overhead cables.
Although its out of season for the Electric Trams, there is no guarantee that the electricity to the cables has been always shut down as maintenance work does take place on the lines during the winter months requiring the cables to be live.
Anyone with information is asked to come forward.
