The Island's health and social care minister says just over 10 per cent of the Island's nursing home beds are currently vacant.
She was asked about the number in Tynwald last week by Ayre and Michael MHK Tim Baker after a home in Ramsey announced it's to close.
Mrs Beecroft said out of 936 beds in registered care homes, 454 come with nursing care: and 47 of those are currently empty.
She said data from the Island's last census shows demand will rise in coming years:
