4 treated for smoke inhalation following major fire

A major fire overnight in Lord Street, Douglas has resulted in four casualties.

They have been treated for smoke inhalation and shock, no more details about their condition are as yet known.

The fire was contained to flats on the street; roads in the surrounding area were closed until 1am this morning.

6 fire engines responded to the call to tackle the blaze.

Barrack Street is expected to remain closed until at least 10am this morning, however access to Shaws Brow Car park is still available.
