4 New MLC\'S To be Voted in Today
Today will see the election of four new members for the Legislative Council.
Four new members are voted in at a time. Amongs those nominated is celebrity chef kevin Woodford.
The Legislative Council has 11 members in all and is effectively the upper Branch of Tynwald, they meet with MHK’s during sittings of Tynwald.
Although Bills can first be introduced into the Legislative Council primarily their job is to revise bills, which are first introduced into the House of Keys.
Today will see a simpler election process than previous years with the process having to be completed in one sitting, in past years it has dragged on for weeks, sometimes months before the vacancies are filled.
It’s set to get underway this morning at 10.
