£24,000 worth of damage caused to School grounds in last year

DEC Minister Eddie Teare warns vandals; \'smile, you could well be caught on camera!\' as CCTV cameras are set up.

Today marks the end of the school term with a 6 week break for the pupils and teachers across the Island.

As usual the school grounds will be open to the public for recreational activities throughout this period, this news however comes with a strict warning to vandals to stay away.

Over the past 12 months there has been a significant amount of damage to school grounds during the holidays with the Department picking up the £24,000 bill.

As a further deterrent CCTV cameras have been strategically placed around the schools so anyone committing the crimes can be identified and dealt with accordingly.
