Education, Sport & Culture Minister, Graham Cregeen MHK, says the chance to host the 2027 Island games would be a 'fantastic opportunity'.
It comes after the International Island Games Association (IIGA) announced this week the Isle of Man is the preferred host for the event that year.
Mr Cregeen added he believes the occasion would chance to showcase the Manx sporting talent at international level.
The Island has hosted the games twice before, including the inaugural tournament in 1985.
