Parts of Douglas to Shut to Enable Major Procession to the War Memorial
Streets around Douglas are going to be closed today to make way for a major procession leaving from the Town Hall making its way to the War memorial.
The march will see over 60 military personnel led by a marching band and a functioning tank as part of the ceremony to award the freedom of Douglas to the 12th Regiment, Royal Artillery.
The honour is being bestowed on the 12th regiment as they’re the recruit on the Island.
Lord Street Car Park will be partially closed all day, with Victoria Street and Loch Promenade closing from 4.30 until 5.15pm.
Brigadier Norman Butler has been pivotal in organising the day, he urges everyone to turn out for the ceremony which will begin at 4.15pm at the Town Hall.
