11 safety recommendations have been made following a Manx2.com plane crash in which six people died.

Yesterday, the Irish Air Accident Investigation Unit released its final report into the tragedy - which happened on February 10th 2011.

The plane was travelling from Belfast to Cork and crashed on its third attempt at landing after losing control in heavy fog.

Spanish company Flightline BCN was operating the aircraft, whilst Island-based company Manx2.com sold tickets for the service.

The investigation found nine contributory causes; attributing poor evaluation of the weather and inappropriate decision making as the main causes.

The two pilots were also said to be ‘inappropriately paired’ for the flight due to their training and likelihood to be suffering from tiredness and fatigue.
