Tynwald has approved new legislation about shared parental leave and bereavement leave.
The new laws mean parents can take two weeks’ leave following the death of a child under the age of 18, including cases of stillbirth from 24 weeks.
It can be taken as a two-week block or two blocks of one week within the first year after the death.
Expectant parents who suffer a miscarriage before 24 weeks of pregnancy will be entitled to one week of leave.
Changes to parental leave mean parents can share up to 50 weeks to care for a baby in the first 12 months.
Maternity and paternity leave will still be available as options, and the shared rights will also apply to adoptive parents.
The measures come into effect from November 1, and you can find out more on the government website.
