Government-run companies could prepare their accounts for calendar years rather than financial years in future.
New directions under the Island's Audit Act are due to be laid before Tynwald when it sits in October 2026.
Currently, government-owned businesses make up their accounts at the end of March.
The new rules would mean they would do so at the end of December in future.
