An Island cosmetics clinic has secured an exclusive licence to help revolutionize understanding and treatment of hair loss.
Tracey Bell Dental and Aesthetic Medical Clinic, based in Douglas, has acquired the rights to the Fagron TrichoTest - a genetic test which analyses someone's genes and lifestyle variations to accurately recommend hair loss treatments.
The Tracey Bell Clinic will be the only Isle of Man-based specialist to offer the treatment.
Its founder, Tracey Bell, says: "With 80 per cent of men and 40 per cent of women experiencing androgenic alopecia (pattern baldness/hair loss) during their lifetime, the problem of hair loss is undoubtedly a common issue that affects many people.
"Our hope it is that by introducing this revolutionary genomic DNA test (i.e. TrichoTest), we’ll be able to offer residents of the Isle of Man the most cutting-edge treatment available and provide them with a unique insight into their own hair loss and how best it can be treated."
The test, available for £250, is suitable for everyone who wants to understand how their genetics affect hair loss treatment.
Within two weeks, patients will receive their results and a detailed report to find out what is causing their hair loss and their consultant will then be able to use those details to draw up a treatment plan.
