The Isle of Man's BEST gardening event of the year is back! The way it works is that you bring your spare and unwanted seeds, seedlings, and plants to share, then take home new ones! Easy peasy 🙂 If you don't have items to share, simply leave a small donation in the buckets provided. Everyone is invited!
This year’s Seed Swap & Plant Share will take place on Saturday, April 6th, 2024, from 2-4pm at the Working Men's Institute in Laxey. The event will take place on BOTH FLOORS so it will be both roomy for seed sharing and with tables and chairs to sit down on to enjoy cakes and warm drinks.
HOW IT WORKS
🌷On the day, bring your extra/unwanted seeds, seedlings, and plants, and organise them into the provided tubs/areas. Afterward, take what you need from the same areas. No bartering or bantering with others is required. There's usually a good mix of items including vegetables and house plants.
🌱If you take more than you brought or don't have anything to share, we recommend leaving a donation in the buckets provided.
🎁The seed swap is an event that supports the Laxey and Douglas allotments. This year, we are also supporting the Heritage Seed Library! There are donation tubs provided, but we also have a garden-themed raffle. Please support the event by purchasing tickets and/or bringing new gardening items as prizes.
📗 Used and in good condition gardening books, tools, and other items can also be brought to the event to give away. It’s a great excuse to clean out the garden shed.
👛Entrance is £1 per adult (children are free), and gardening enthusiasts across the Isle of Man are invited to attend. It's a great way to pick up seeds inexpensively!
📅 Mark the date on your calendar, and see you for another fun day of gardening goodies and conversations
🍰 Refreshments will be provided by the Laxey & Lonan Allotment on a donation basis. Hosted by Lovely Greens and the Laxey and Douglas Allotments, this is the most popular vegetable gardening event on the Isle of Man! This is the event's 13th year running, and each year, hundreds of seed packets and plants are shared among the attendees. See you for a day of seeds, plants, and spring gardening on Saturday, April 6th 🙂 - the Seed Swap Team, Tanya, Brenda, Netty, and Claire
