Yesterday was 'wettest December day' on record

Ronaldsway Met Office saw almost 50mm of rain falling at the airport - the most since records began in 1947. 

 

Heavy rain caused havoc on the Island's roads last night with widespread flooding leading police pleading with motorists not to travel. 

 

Numerous rivers burst their banks, homes were flooded and there was a landslide on the Mountain Road.
