Work will begin next week on transforming a section of the Heritage Trail in Ramsey.
A new three-metre wide path will be laid out on the route between Gardeners Lane and Poyll Dooey Road, near to Ramsey Sorting Office.
It's another part of the Heritage Trail Project aiming to provide a safe route for pedestrians and cyclists and is looking to support the government's Active Travel Strategy to get more people walking or cycling to and from work and school.
A new 85-metre ‘spur’ path will also be constructed roughly halfway along, to improve access for children attending local schools and people living and working nearby.
Following the update, Infrastructure Minister, Tim Baker MHK, says: "This project will benefit the community by improving access in all weathers, leading to increased use throughout the year.
"Schoolchildren, in particular, will be able to use the track safely, and can choose to walk, run, cycle or scoot in an environment free from traffic."
