Works to replace the Crosby and Glen Vine Sewage Treatment Works are set to begin this month.
It comes as Manx Utilities have been granted planning permission for the project, which supports the demands of a growing population in the area.
The current treatment works was built in the 1960s and now needs work to bring it up to modern say standards.
The new facility is designed to maximise efficiency and minimise environmental impact.
While work is undertaken there will be a ten week closure of the heritage trail from January.
It's thought the project will be complete by April 2025.
