Works to introduce a 40mph zone in the area of St Marks have been postponed.
The Department of Infrastructure says the project, which was originally due to start yesterday, has had to be delayed due to operational reasons.
The DOI is planning to put a 40mph buffer zone on the approach to St Marks Village from the direction of Ballasalla following concerns about speeding in the area from local residents.
More than 1,200 motorists were recorded breaking the speed limit there last month.
Officials now say the road closure for the initiative will now be in place from Monday, September 14, on the St Marks Road (A26) from 9am to 4pm each day between Ballagarey Methodist Chapel and Orrisdale Road.
Closures will be until September 25 at the latest and if weather conditions are poor on any given day the route will stay open - residents in the area are being sent letters about the changes.
