Work on Quarterbridge to start on Monday

Work to improve Quarterbridge Road will start again on Monday.

The work to reconstruct the pavement has previously been delayed due to ongoing Covid restrictions.

As a result, the department of infrastructure has confirmed there will be a number of road closures, and diversions.

Work was temporarily halted due to the circuit break lockdown but is now ready to begin when restrictions hopefully lift on Monday.

Contractors will start on the lower part of the road, from the Alexander Road junction to the Quarterbridge Roundabouts, first - which is expected to take around four weeks.

From 9am on Monday Quarterbridge Road will be made one way between the Quarterbridge Roundabouts and Selborne Drive.

It means:

- The junction of Quarterbridge Road with Alexander Drive will be one way from Quarterbridge Road and into Alexander Drive . Traffic that would normally travel via Alexander Drive into Quarterbridge Road will be diverted via a signed route (Devonshire Road, Selborne Drive and on to Quarterbridge Road).

The junction with Quarterbridge Road and Devonshire Crescent will remain open, but traffic will be able to turn right towards Bray Hill only.

- Southbound traffic that would normally use Quarterbridge Road will be diverted at the bottom of Bray Hill.

- Traffic from the North will be diverted.

- The diversions, and road closures, are expected to be in place until Sunday, February 28th.

Residents who live on Quarterbridge Road will be given a letter this week outlining the plans.
