Work starts next week on a new oncology unit at Noble's Hospital, replacing the current facility.
The purpose-built unit will include therapy areas, patient rooms, an outpatients' suite, and dedicated waiting areas.
The Department of Health and social Care says converting the former Ward 5 means patients can attend without going through the main hospital.
Contractors should finish work in spring, when the unit will be fitted out before opening this summer.
