A woman who carried out an unprovoked attack before assaulting two police officers had taken a cocktail of drink and drugs for Dutch courage, a court’s heard.
Rosemary Ellen Burgess of Old Laxey Hill in Laxey appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
The 21 year old had admitted one count of assault and two of assaulting police on September 15 this year.
Prosecutor Hazel Carroon told the hearing Burgess had gone to a woman’s home in Hutchinson Square and punched her in the face at around 8.30pm.
When police were called, she tried to flee but was detained by officers nearby - she struggled and kicked out as she was arrested, hitting an officer in the legs.
At police headquarters, she continued to be violent and kicked another officer as she was being taken into custody.
Later, she told probation workers she’d drunk vodka and taken ketamine and prescription tablets before carrying out her attack.
The court heard she’d served a jail term imposed last year for assaulting an officer, possessing drugs and criminal damage.
Mrs Hughes imposed a nine-month jail term, telling Burgess “I hope you take a good look at yourself and your life”.
