Police have confirmed a woman was killed in a road traffic collision in Kirk Michael last night.
Emergency services were called to the Main Road at around 6pm to the scene of a crash involving a dark blue Range Rover and a cyclist.
Suffering fatal injuries, the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been released, but police say she was local.
Both the car and the cyclist were travelling in the same direction towards Ballaugh when the collision occured.
The Range Rover was being driven by a woman who had a child in the car. They were both in shock but neither required medical attention.
Police have thanked local residents who ‘rallied around’ to offer first aid and assistance to the emergency services.
The road was closed until almost midnight to allow investigations to take place.
The Coroner of Inquests has been informed.
