Wind Farm Plans Announced in Tynwald as Island Endeavours to Get Greener
An onshore wind farm could be heading to the Isle of Man as Tynwald announce a new renewable energy policy.
By 2015 The Government wants 15% of all of the Isle of Man’s energy produced – to come from renewable sources, as it stands it contributes 3%.
In the past when such proposals have been tabled they have resulted in mixed responses from the public, with some branding them an eye sore on the Manx countryside.
The likelyhood is that the scheme would be funded by the private sector, with a number of private developers having already expressed interest.
Ken Milne is the Senior Manager for Energy Policy at the Department of Economic Development, he said the Island is the perfect location to utilize wind power.
