A huge catch of King scallops on the first day of the fishing season is a sign of how well the Island's fisheries are managed, according to the Island's Fish Producers Organisation.
A number of people have taken to social media to criticise the amount of boats in Manx waters, as well as the reported 240 tonnes of scallops caught.
But David Beard from the organisation says there's always a surge in the amount caught when the fisheries open, and the number of boats allowed to fish has dropped by around 40 per cent over the last year.
He says his main concern is that a bumper catch may mean lower prices:
