Hundreds of students are to return to the Island shortly for the Christmas holidays, with many already here.
During yesterday's press briefing, Mr Ashford said people shouldn't demonise students as irresponsible people who will ignore quarantine rules.
And while admitting the sheer number of returning people will be a challenge, he added if they wanted to, they could self-isolate together in tourism accommodation with government support.
