Waves higher than predicted on crossing which damaged cars

The Steam Packet says waves were even higher than predicted during Sunday's rough crossing which left several cars damaged.

Passengers described the Manannan's final voyage of the year on Sunday, October 26 as horrific, with frightened people and vomit everywhere.

The company explained actual sea conditions turned out to be worse than the forecasted 2.7 meter high waves, which is within the ferry's operational limits.

It also says during the crossing an indicator of smoke was detected in one of the main engines, which was shut down as a precaution while it was assessed.
