Yesterday PC Steve Gorry helped save a man from drowning in Douglas Bay - he was seen in distress, shouting for help, at around 9:20am.
It took nine officers, coastguards - both on the shore and operating a lifeboat - and an ambulance to co-ordinate the rescue effort.
The man was taken to Noble's Hospital - PC Gorry says it would have been an impossible attempt without trained personnel on the scene:
