Improvements to the Island's sewage treatment works have resulted in record water quality results for our beaches.
Each week between May and September sea water samples are taken from 19 popular beaches and are assessed against European bathing water standards.
Despite good results Peel, Kirk Michael and Ramsey all failed the tests, with no sewage treatment processes currently in place.
Environmental protection unit manager Phil Styles says standards have improved steadily since the introduction of the IRIS scheme:
