Police and the Fire Service responded to the blaze at 12:30pm on August 20, discovering that the fire was started by the improper disposal of a barbecue on site.
A ban on fires and barbecues in the area was brought in earlier this year, with visitors asked to 'respect and adhere to these byelaws.'
Government adds that this incident serves as a 'stark reminder' of the fire hazard present in dry and highly flammable habitats.
