The polls are open between 08:00 and 20:00 today (Thursday).
People in seven areas of the island are eligible to vote- those in Castletown, three wards in Douglas, Garff's Lonan ward, Jurby, Onchan, Peel and Santon.
The elections were due to take place in April last year but were delayed because of coronavirus lockdown restrictions.
Those in isolation due to Covid-19 have been told they will not be able to cast their votes in the contest.
