Police Alarmed At How Many Have Defects
Officers say they are alarmed at the number of Island residents who do not make simple checks on their vehicles.
During the first week of February 365 vehicles were pulled over in an initiative to crack down on vehicles that are not fit for the road.
288 of those had defects.
As a result 30 people could face the courts.
Police, along with the road safety team and the Department of Transport, say that with the recent bad weather cars need to be safe in order to rescue road casualties.
Police are reminding people to make simple checks on their vehicles or they could face courts or a hefty fine.
