Vaccination to prevent babies developing whopping cough

The Department of Health is taking extra measures to protect babies from a Whooping Cough.

Vaccinations are being offered to pregnant women to prevent the illness when a baby is born.

The highly contagious disease is especially susceptible to newborns, who can’t be vaccinated until they’re two months old.

It causes you to cough uncontrollably and violently, making it dangerously hard to breathe. 

Director of public health Dr Kishore says these injections will make a huge difference:
