A man who broke down in Glen Vine had his car seized and crushed after officers found its tax was more than five months out of date.
Gordon Thomas Lewis of Douglas Street in Peel admitted having no tax via a coroner’s admission before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
The court heard police found the 45 year old’s Nissan Micra parked on the pavement at Glen Darragh Road just after 7.30am on May 14.
Officers discovered the tax had expired last December – in mitigation Lewis said the car wasn’t his and he hadn’t known it was untaxed.
Magistrates fined him £150 and ordered him to pay £50 in costs.
