Imminemt Price Hikes Bad News for Island\'s Student Support Provision
It's been announced today that University's in the UK will now be able to charge upto £9000 per year in tuition fees.
The move has come as the UK government transfers a large bulk of the cost of courses onto the students.
The news has been met with outcry by students across the UK, it could also have some very negative implications for future Manx students.
As it stands the Manx Government are able to shoulder the cost of practically all tuition fees incurred by Manx students who go onto higher education, however their budget is currently stretched to its maximum with no room for expansion says Education and Children Minister Eddie Teare.
He said they will closely monitor what the Universities decide to do, but ultimately some very tough decisions regarding the service they provide will have to be made.
