Unemployment levels change for the better after seven months of decline

During the month 138 signed on, but 186 signed off, with a total of 601 males out of work and 242 females.

Unemployment on the Island has fallen to its lowest levels of 2011 with the percentage of people out of work standing at just 2%.

Treasury Minister Anne Craine has said it’s highly positive to see a reversal in the trend of monthly increases.

Minister Craine said she hopes the situation will continue to improve, with more seasonal jobs currently available in the hospitality sector playing an important part.

There are currently 558 vacancies notified to the Job Centre, with 330 positions still held on file.
