Unemployment falls for sixth consecutive month

Unemployment has fallen for the six consecutive month and now stands at 2.3 per cent.

New figures show that last month saw a drop of six people claiming jobseekers’ allowance with 1,032 people registered as unemployed.

During September 325 signed on and 331 signed off.

Of the total unemployed, 706 are males and 316 are females.

The Job Centre says there were still 393 vacant positions on file at the end of September.
