The Island’s first offshore wind farm will face less planning bureaucracy in the UK after its government said it would treat it as “nationally significant infrastructure”.
The Mooir Vannin development planned by Ørsted off the Island's East coast can now apply for planning permission by applying for a Development Consent Order in England.
Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero Ed Miliband said he’d grant the wind farm the special status to recognise its importance to the UK.
John Galloway, Development Director for the Isle of Man at Ørsted, says Mr Miliband’s decision is a significant milestone.
The proposals will still face scrutiny on the Isle of Man.
