Tynwald to vote on £7.2 million mental health unit

A new £7.2 million mental health facility is being proposed in Tynwald today.

Grianagh Court is operating at maximum capacity, and has done for several years.
 
Minister for Health and Social Care Howard Quayle says it's time for change:
 
 
Government spends over £1 million each year - paying for patients to travel to and from the UK for treatment. 
 
To remedy it - proposals are being put forward for the new acute adult psychiatric inpatient unit - which would be housed on the Noble's Hospital campus site. 
 
Howard Quayle insists that it's the only way to future-proof the provision, and ensure taxpayers are getting value for money:
