£8.1 million of taxpayers' money could be spent on buying a brand new care home in Douglas.
The Department of Health and Social Care will ask Tynwald to approve the plan for the building on Sailsbury Street next week:
The home, which is being built and sold by a private company, will have 68 beds - the department says it will address the lack of affordable nursing home places on the Island.
