Work will soon begin on new sports facilities at Castle Rushen High School after just over £2million of funding was approved.
A motion from Education, Sport & Culture Minister, Dr Alex Allinson MHK, for the funds was unanimously agreed on by Tynwald this week.
The project will see the creation of new playing fields where a two-tier plateau will be built accommodating four football pitches, a cricket pitch and four cricket nets.
There are also plans to establish a series of other facilities later down the line on an existing playing field not being built on, including a rugby pitch, 400m grass running track, discus cage and shot put ring.
