Two parishes in the South of the Island will become one later this year.
Arbory and Rushen are due to become one single entity after a vote to merge them was passed by Tynwald members yesterday.
The change is expected to come into effect on May 1 after the chairs of the both authorities agreed to the idea in principle in September last year.
It's hoped having one larger authority in the region will improve services for residents there.
