Refurbishing two northern lighthouses will cost around £100,000.
The two navigation structures are on Ramsey's North and South piers and have been in place for more than 120 years.
According to the Department of Infrastructure the lighthouses were recently inspected and were seen to be in 'urgent need of renovation'.
Concerns were raised if the work wasn't carried out they might suffer a similar fate to the Port St Mary lighthouse which was washed away during a violent storm seven years ago.
The structures will need to be taken down and completely rebuilt at a cost of around £100,000 - local contractors will be used.
Temporary navigation lights will be used on the piers to ensure mariners are safe in the mean time.
