Two people were taken to hospital last night after a collision at Handleys Corner.
A Volkswagen Caddy Van and a Volvo 340 crashed at about 5PM. Both vehicles suffered sever impact.
Involved in the collision were a 52 year old male from Ballaugh and a 72 year old male from Andreas.
The 52 year old, who was cut out of his van by fire crews, remains in Nobles hospital with serious, but non life threatening, injuries.
The road was closed from Cronk y voddy crossroads to Douglas Road Corner in Kirk Michael for over four hours.
Inspector Mark Britton says: 'I apologise for any inconvenience caused to road users last night during the road closure. Essential investigations needed to take place. It was unclear as to the exact condition of either of the drivers at the time of the attendance of the emergency services and our priority was ensuring that the scene was managed in a safe way.'
Police are appealing for information.
