Douglas lifeboat was launched twice in a day yesterday to go to the aid of small boats off the Island's coast.
The crew was called out just before 9.30am when a vessel bound for Barrow reported engine failure - but she managed to repair her engines before the lifeboat arrived.
The Sir William Hillary was called out again shortly after 4.30pm when a RIB's battery failed in Laxey Bay.
The RIB's sole occupant was transferred to the lifeboat and the boat brought back to Douglas under tow.
Nobody was injured during either incident.
