The footbridge at the TT grandstand is set to be replaced.
The walkway was closed in early July following a structural inspection and the Department of Infrastructure says design work has begun on a new bridge to be ready in time for the 2020 TT.
DOI officials say it must now be replaced after over 35 years of use for the safety of the public.
Those needing to cross the highway are being asked to use the temporary footbridge at the St Ninians crossroads.
